Hi all,

I'm Joep from Belgium, and me and my fiancee just got our first 2 chins (Gizmo & Scrat) a little over a week ago.
Against on-line advice we didn't go to a breeder but got them from a pet store as I figured pet store animals deserve a good home as well.

I'm waiting on a friend to come by with a camera and will post pics of them when I have some.

:dance3:

Hi and welcome! Congrats on your new additions!!! And I agree, all animals need our love, no matter where they come from :)

Guten Tag! My Deustch is quite rusty but at least I remember that lol! Welcome! Cute names for your two, can't wait to see some pics

Wilkommen zu CnH! Ich freue mich auf sein Fotos ob Gizmo und Scrat! Ich praktiziere mein Deutsch mit ihr einmal mochte gern. Mit Ihrer Erlaubnis. :D

Thank you all some more

though to clarify my first language would be Dutch not German/Deutsch (das ist nur meine dritte sprache)
My grandmother was German though actually ;)

This morning before I left for work Scrat & Gizmo were their usual active morning selves(somehow so far they're a lot more active in the morning than evening/night), and I actually had to stop Gizmo (normally the shy one) to climb all the way to my shoulder.
They're just adorable :)

 Well, my mother had a saying about ***uming. :] While I was in Amsterdam last month I was constantly surprised by how Dutch was both charmingly familiar to my German studies and also so distinctly different. I kept trying to understand words that I had no way of figuring out. LOL

Chins are technically crepuscular so you should have lots of early morning greetings since dusk and dawn are best. Isn't it a lovely feeling when they start exploring you?

ty :)

And they're really amazing creatures. They're getting bolder every day and I'm looking forward to when getting them out of the cage and into the playpen will no longer require a lot of coaxing and waiting with the pet carrier by the cage door (they've spent one session in the pen while I was cleaning out their cage on sunday, and I might try again tomorrow (have a day off) and definitely sunday again as it'll be cage-cleaning time. I'd rather they can run around some than having them in the pet carrier while I clean. (and getting both of them in there was difficult enough last sunday, getting them out and into the playpen went very well though and they had a lot of fun popcorning and running around through the tunnels I'd set up)
But I definitely don't want to push them - just want them to get used to us and their new surroundings at their own pace

And I actually think in a way I'm lucky I got them from the pet store. They never seemed real frightened by us (or the cat). And the reaction of the pet store people when I picked them up was very heartwarming. Everybody gathered to say goodbye to them (actually asking other customers for a minute of patience). It was really emotional, and the chins were surprisingly well looked after (had a huge cage in the back of the store, past the other animals with practically a small herd (around 10 chins including three week-old kits and one pregnant female) and lots of branches to crawl on, several houses etc). And the pet store people still seemed very happy also that they were getting a new home.
