We just had 2 babies this morning (one grey and one black!). Our other mama is due in about 4 more weeks. If they got along before the babies, could I cage them together once the babies are born or would it be better to keep them apart with only their own babies?

TIA!

Are they currently together or you want to put them together? If they are not together, absolutely not. I would not put a pair of females together who had just given birth. If they have been together all along, you'll have to wait and see. Watch them closely and see if they continue to live together peacefully. I have many colonies here and mom's share kit duties easily and without problems, but I watch them carefully to be sure nothing aggressive occurs.

Peggy is right. If they aren't already together, don't put them together. Pregnancy, delivery and motherhood can make mama chins really moody, aggressive and protective.

I keep mama chins together all the time and the vast majority of the time it works out very well. If they have babies at the same time, they will nurse each other's babies. The kits can benefit greatly from that. :)
