I saw this little boys cage offered for a $75 fee, and then as an afterthought, oh yeah, you can get the chinchilla for free too, if you want him. I kind of freaked out. What if they didn't want it? What if the owners just tossed it out if the purchasers didn't want it. And how bad is the condition he is in if the owner throws him in with the cage as a "freebie"
So when I explained all this to my husband, he said ok, But this is the last one (Deja Vu?) So we drove up to get this "wonderful" cage and the poor little guy. The cage is, but everything inside it is plastic and getting chewed on. So my husband and I will be spending another weekend reconfiguring a cage.
But anyway, Little Goober (as my son's have decided to call him), is what I believe to be a hetero beige. He has the freckly ears and the not fully one color coat. Let me know what you guys think of the name, the color, and any other advice you have.
He will of course, be kept seperate from the 3 girls. We are working out how cut 3 cages down to two with one male thrown in the mix.

Here's the pic. That's the best I could get.

I see that on our CL too , people selling a cage and including the animal for free. I wonder if it is to get around the no selling rules CL has maybe? Cute little guy btw. :)

Oh he's a cute little guy, looks young. I'm glad you rescued him so now he'll know how good life can be with someone who wants and loves him.

very cute!!! im glad you rescued him!!! you can give him the home he deserves...i hope you'll posts more pics :)!!!

Addicted to chins- he is young, according to the former owner he is 10 months old. They got him for their 10 year olds birthday, and they knew (know) nothing about chins, including the cost of a good cage, and all the care they require. Now the son has lost interest and the parents no longer want to take care of and pay for a pet that no one cared about. So Sad :( So he is already settling in great. I haven't gotten a chance to weigh him yet, but he seems to be a good size for his age.

Good for you (and your hubbie)! Goober's a cute little guys name. Good luck with him and congratulations!

It's a shame that it happens to so many chins, where people don't want them any more. It's good that he ended up finding a forever home with you. He is a real cutie. Congrats on your new addition.

I love the name Goober! I call all my pets Goober-**** affectionately so I think this name is perfect for your little cutie pie!

Oh he's a doll. I know what you mean by "no more". My husband has already told me no more pets. But he says chinchillas don't count. Thank goodness.

I'm working on convincing that he will be lonely being the only boy. Do you think that will work out?

Love the name Goober. He is very cute. You did a good thing!
