So I'v had my chin for about a month his name is Gus Gus hes about 4 months old. I have him in a smaller cage right now and i'm thinking about getting a new one, this was the one I had in mind: http://qualitycage.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=129_142_153&products_id=627
Does this look like a good cage. I also plan on adding a fleece tube and maybe some lava ledges. Is there anything else I should add or have any other advice?

Welcome to the forum! :wave3:

that's a good size cage for a single chin IMO.

you'll want to add a few more wood shelves. kiln dried pine boards at your local home depot or lowes are cheap, and then you'll just need hanger bolts, washers, and wing nuts to install them in the cage. there is a tutorial here on the forum (in the DIY section i believe) to show you how to put the hardware in.

being as your chin is young (and most likely very boisterous! lol), i would suggest getting a large square hammock and stretching it across the middle of the cage, about halfway up. this way, if Gus Gus (love the name by the way, i have a chin named Guss!) should slip and fall off a higher shelf, his fall will be cushioned by the 'trampoline' hammock.

can't wait to see the new cage all decked out! check out the classified section on here for members selling fleece items, shelves, hidey houses, chew toys, and more!

Definitely looks like a nice cage. The best part is that you can play around and set it up however you want. its going to be fun!

I own that cage (the version with 2 doors) and I love it! I would highly recommend it. It definitely has plenty of room for your chin to jump around and have fun. I really love the fact that it comes with 3 large wooden shelves as well.

If you want to check out This thread there's a picture of how I have my cage set up currently.

Thanks for the advice everyone!! I think I'm getting a few fleece items from qualitymutations. I also have another question should I go with the 1"x1" wire spacing or the 1/2" x 1"?

It says that's for the floor below the tray so they shouldn't be able to get to that, right? I can't make the picture very big but I don't think this cage has a wire floor...

You can choose between 1/2" x 1" or 1" x 1" for the floor (beneath the pull out metal tray), but you can also buy a baby-safe cage where the whole cage has the 1/2" x 1" spacing. I'm really not sure why the bottom matters too much since they can't get to it anyway...

Yeah the floor isn't wire its just under the tray. I was more concerned about if he could squeeze out of the 1"x1" since the cage he's in now has 1/2" bar width

QC cages are very popular and people love them. 1"x1" is fine for him. Also, I recommend getting the stand for it, its very helpful.

I have several QC cages and I have not had an escape since I got them (now that I said that, someone will escape, of course).

So im ordering my cage tonight and i was wondering if i should get the metal door guards for more money? does it make a big difference??

I have the QC Mansion and LOVE it! Like FutureDVM said, get the metal door guards. You want to avoid having any plastic in your chins cage. I've made two orders with Quality Cages, the original cage order, and then some accessories on the second order (More Shelves, Hay Rack, another water bottle). I called both orders in because I wanted to know shipping costs and that the order would go out that day. I am a big shopper, and I will tell you that Quality Cages is tops in customer service. They are the nicest people, and they know their product like the back of their hands. Can't wait for pics of your cage all set up. :)
