I just activated it tonight, and I love this phone!! Its taken me about 7-8 months to decide on a phone with Verizon. lol I had the crappy Razor that has been a big pain in the butt.

Oh, and the best part? I got the phone, car charger and leather case for FREE (well, almost free. I have to pay tax lol). Got to love the "new every 2" deal. :)

Does anyone else have the Omnia, or a Window OS phone?
What applications have you downloaded that are worth it?

Here is the Omnia: http://omnia.samsungmobile.com/ (you can skip the movie)
I believe other cell phone carriers have a similar phone too....

Did you really get this free with the new every two??? Our phones are eligible in a week and that makes me really excited. We just bought a new mattress so I didn't think we could afford new phones.

Did you do it online or at a store?

Yup, free!! :dance3: All I have to pay is tax. There is a $70 mail in rebate that comes in the form of a Visa card.

I called Verizon and did it over the phone, and they shipped out the phone, car charger and case for me. I had to ask about the car charger. I was contemplative over the phone and asked, "well, if I get the phone and sign the 2 year contract, will you give me a car charger?" And they did. :)

Samsung is running a special on all their phones, so right now is the best time to get a samsung phone. The phone right now is $169.99, subtract the $100 for the new every 2, then subtract the $70 mail in rebate and presto = FREE!

My only issue (that has been resolved) is that the software the the phone and manual is on CDs. And they do not support Windows Vista. So you can go to the samsung website and download the manual there, an then go to www.microsoft.com and find the windows mobile 6.1 devices (find the omnia) and get the software that way. Not that big of a deal. Tech support was surprised that the CDs weren't Vista compatible too. Oh well, all fixed now.

When did you do this? Verizon just changed their new every two rebate from $100 to $50 and from $50 to $30 depending on your lines. They did it the beginning of this month.

I did it last Friday, and the phone got to me on Tuesday (activated it Tuesday night). I didn't know they changed their new every 2 to $50!! They still let me have the $100.

I guess I will have to wait and see when we can upgrade on the 5th and 7th.. sigh. Ricky gets a discount since his company uses Verizon so that may help as well. I'm feeling a little better about it. I absolutely HATE my enV2, and I hate LG phones!!

Do you subscribe to Smartphone service as well for that phone?

I don't believe you HAVE to pay the additional $30, but you'll get charged like crazy if you access the internet. Does this phone not have WiFi that you could use and not be charged for data since it isn't running on their service? Or do you get charged for data download regardless? I can't fathom paying an additional $60 a month for two of us, our bill is already $132 a month.

I just called Verizon since I got worried and wanted to make sure I got my $100. And if you are a Verizon customer right now, and your new every two expires you can still get the $100 after 2 years. BUT, from here on out, Verizon will give you $50 after 2 year (its part of their new contract). So you should be safe. Just wanted to let you know. :)

That really sucks that its no longer $100 after 2 years though!!

No, you have to get the data package. Its a requirement on their pda/smartphones now.
