I am not sure who to contact or what can be done but I am concerned that the Chinchillas at a fish store in Phoenix, AZ are not in good shape. If anyone here has the ability to go check on them and do something to help these poor Chinchillas, I'd be grateful!
This is an email that I have sent to two people in the Tucson area.
"I am not certain if you are the right person to contact, I could not find a rescue in Phoenix. I recently visited a fish store in Phoenix and was appalled to find several Chinchillas in less than desirable living conditions. Most had no water or food in their cages although there was evidence that they had been fed something at some time. The cages were filthy and the animals looked neglected, dirty, and sad. I do not own Chinchillas but live with many other pets and feel that I am capable of discerning between properly and improperly cared for critters. I was appalled by the conditions these animals were living in. I hope that you or someone you know will go check out the situation and take appropriate measures." Perhaps I have misjudged the situation given that I do not have Chinchillas as pets but somehow I don't think so.
