Okay, so I have three different W-2's. Two are from the state of California and one if from Connecticut. I tried submitting them seperately on Taxact, but it wasn't working.

Does anyone know how I can do this correctly? Or is there another site that someone has used that they feel is better? I used taxact last year without issues, but that was also with just one W-2...

Thanks!

I used Turbo tax and I had 3 W-2's, but all in PA even though I changed my residency this past year from NJ to PA. They kept track of both states if I got a refund or not. They do cost i think it was $25 per state though to file it online. You could try to just print up the forms and mail them if they let you so you don't need to pay the e-file fees. National is completely free though...I should go finish mine actually.

I just don't understand what I am doing wrong. With each w-2 I submit, my refund goes lower and lower. It literally was cut in half by adding in the other two jobs. I'm so frustrated right now...:hair:

If you enter one it takes that as your income for the year, which would prob put you below the having to pay tax line, pluss adding earned income credit. The more income you get, the less earned income you make (not exactly, but easiest way to explain) and the more tax you have to pay. They take what you have paid, minus what they want from you, and difference is what you have to pay them, or they pay you. But it's probably the combined total that's doing it.

Actually it was that taxact was stupid. I just did it with Turbotax and it was not only easier but it didn't steal my money. Thanks though!

Yeah... Turbo Tax was waaaay easier. Last year, when I moved to Texas, I had 5 W-2s. Three from New York, one from Texas, and one from Massachusetts (contract labor.) It's such a mainstream program that it can cover any situation. Glad you got it all worked out.

btw... you can download it offline for pretty cheap every year. It's cheaper than buying the software in the store. Just an FYI for 2010.

I only worked a 1/2 year last year (since I was away from home for months) but I used TaxSlayer and did all my e-filing for free (three W2s, two VA returns (TN doesn't have state tax)) and got them direct deposited.

It was all free because of the my income being less than a certain amount - so if you've made less than (I think $11k?) try it. It awarded me my missed stimulus from last year too :)

I use H&R Block software and it asks you if you have w2's from other states. Although I'm sure you don't want to purchase new software, just wanted to tell you that in case next year you decide you might want to use it.
