Hello all, its been a while since I have been on.....I just scored a Critter nation cage from someone and was wondering what everyone who has that cage does to keep the bedding from falling out. The pan is so shallow that it cant hold bedding in it. Any advice?? Thanks in advance!

The Bass pans are a good replacement, but you'll still get poops/litter/etc kicked out of the cage.

I was going to mention those metal bass pans for the cage too.

Have you thought about using fleece instead?

Thanks for the replies....i emailed the Bass co and inquired about shipping the pan out here to Hawaii...im wondering how much itll be lol...but regarding fleece, how often do you have to change it and do you wash it or just throw it out?

I change the liners every 2-3 days. Wash them twice, once with detergent and disinfectant, and then once again with just detergent.
Be sure to wipe down the PAN with disinfectant (white vinegar and water, half and half, works great) each time you change the liners or a smell will build up on them.

Putting a small "lip" on the back edges of all your shelves will also help to hold the poop inside your cage.

I see in most pics that the bass pans are used (for lack of a better word) uncured? Is there any harm in having them powder coated? I realize it would be an extra cost and maybe isn't necessary but is there any harm in it and won't it make the pan last longer possibly? Sorry to the op for the thread highjack.

you could also use safe wood ledges.
cheaper way instead of using bass pans.
also suggest fleece
and vacuum it every day.
wayyyy less mess.

I agree with the fleece. I have a CN and I made pillowcase style fleece liners for the plastic pans. I also have a mini shop vac I use everyday :)

I shake/sweep my fleece everyday, then change the fleece and towels under it (that soak up all the urine) every three days. Then wash all of them at the end of the week and let them air dry for a bit.

I clean the pull out pan with 50% water 50% white vinegar whenever I change the liners.

With liners, you can make or order them a few inches bigger than your cage size, so the sides that are up and act as guards like the bass pans do. Or use wood and make "poop guards" like the bass pans do, expect wood.

I've seen a picture of someone using fleece as a liner, but on the outside of there cage. Like hanging it on the outside but pulling it through the bars every few bar spaces.. I can't remember what thread it was in or if anyone has a picture to explain what I mean, but that could maybe be a option.
