I've been thinking that I'd like to take the room that I keep my hedgehogs, gliders, skinny pig, and tarantula in and redecorate it with a nature theme. I'm kind of picturing both live and silk plants added. Maybe even a wallpaper mural with a forest or something.

I'm really not very good with interior design ideas. What I'd love to find is a picture to kind of go by. So does anyone have any ideas to add to my plan? Anyone ever done a room theme like this or seen a photo online anywhere?

-bamboo rods (thick/larger across, like 3-4" bundled together in groups of 3) in pots
-terrariums
-glazed terra cotta or plastic pots in green and brown
-very light blue painted on the ceiling
-large plants in corners
-fake ivy hanging down from part of the ceiling
-green window coverings

What a great idea. What I would suggest is going to a local high school and commissioning a young artist to paint a forest mural. If you speak to the art teacher, they can usually recommend a top student who could do what you want, and it would probably count as extra credit or the final assignment.

Thanks for all the ideas. Keep them coming.

I've been searching for nature wallpaper murals, but haven't found anything just right yet. I don't want a jungle look or a rainforest, but more of a woodsy theme.

Tunes- I like that plant box above the door also.

Mander- Those are the best looking collection of murals I've seen yet, but man are they expensive.

here are pictures of my old room. Not totally realistic with the purple walls and all, but maybe it'll give you some ideas :)

Did you paint the grass and flowers free hand or use some kind of stencil? I like that. Didn't think of doing a lower border like that.

wallpaper mural

These are the same murals Peaceb2u posted, but cheaper.

Yeah, I caught that too. I'm actually thinking of ordering one of those (oriental garden design http://www.decorplace.com/Oriental-Garden-Wallpaper-Wall-Mural.cfm) for one wall in the room I'd like to redecorate.

I've never wallpapered anything where I had to mix the glue. I've only put up some of those prepasted wallpaper borders. Anyone had experience with this? Is it difficult to mix and work with the glue?

I like the oriental garden mural, I'm not a huge fan of the scenery murals (I get visually overwhelmed lol), but that one is very pretty.

I also saw this one that was nice

I would say, if you don't go for a mural, I'd say you could do a "bamboo wall"

and paint the rest of the room a nice dark green, maybe do the trimmings a rich brown?

As far as decoration, very sheer very textures curtains, lots of fake/real plants. Maybe put a bamboo rug to match the wall. You can also sponge the wall to give it texture.

That's a good example of sponging.

I like green personally, but you can achieve a very nice look with golds or browns as well.

Also the bamboo wall provides a lot of room for creativity, if you want to do a more oriental theme, you can probably weave flowers through or attach them to the wall some how.
