i'm just wondering if this is normal chin behavior... gizmo is a few months over a year now and lately during his play time he runs around like a maniac at first...and lately he's been taking alot of "cat naps".. he'll lay down and fall asleep...get up a few mintues later and start running around again. He's been out for about a half an hour...and hes already taken 3 short naps. Is this normal?? Other than that seems to be normal., eating , pooping, cold room, etc.

I am not sure if this is "normal", but I know Trixie does that sime times...takes a bit of a nap or time out during play time. Trixie is 5 now, but I remember once whe she was about the same age as yours, she settled down right by my feet. She actually let me pick her up and she settled in my arms and slept for a bit. I know Trixie always takes a long nap when she is back in her cage after playtime.

It's normal for my Herby too..I let her out to run for playtime and the first thing she does is gets on her box and naps and then she is good to go for the rest of the time she is out.

All three of ours do this. Sometimes we'll hear stories about chins who overexert themselves during play time, I think this is their way of preventing that and regulating themselves. That's just my personal theory though. Our two young chins also worried us when they started doing this, it seems that little ones just never sit still :) Now our babies are 12 and 8 months respectively and they've been taking cat naps during playtime for awhile.

mine does that too.. so don't worry i suppose... =D
I love how they do cause it makes me feel that they had fun when they are out! haha..

Tonight he was very tired during play time too..im worried something might be up. He was active but took a lot of naps.

My guy goes crazy for an hour or 2 no naps, but when he gets in his cage, bam, he's laying down in a big poof.

I think chins just have different sleep patterns like people. Buckie has always been one to nap throughout the day but only really sleep for a while early in the morning. Fatty however sleeps ALL day. I can move his cage around without waking him. He only starts waking up around 4pm and then he's wide awake all night.
