I work at a hotel, and we are very specific with our reservations because people always try to squirm out of something...for example

*7day cxl. Told lowest rate, told no kitchen. Told averaged and split rate to avoid confusion. $209/$179*

So that was the note the OWNER of the hotel had left when she made the reservation...so what happens this morning?!?

The guy comes in yelling at me because he was told a lower rate and wouldn't have agreed to stay if he knew it was this high (was only $15 more than what he thought). I told him that I had it in the notes that he was in fact told, and that he should have asked about it yesterday when he was signing the c/card reciept...*duh*...I was very nice and polite to him about it, and he just kept yelling...I mean come on it's 9:30 in the morning and I'm working a back to back, you saw me here last night at 11pm-get off my back!!!

I understand if someone gets confused, but everyone get's so nasty...its $15!!!! Get over it!!! If you can afford to drive that shinny car outside and eat at Olie Limone last night (one of the most expensive places in SB) then you can afford an extra $15 for two nights....

*sheesh*

I work at the college I attend. I'm a student lab assistant. I get yelled at over things that aren't even monetarily related. So you have to understand my confusion when people start yelling or being rude over some really stupid things.

I mean, yea it's $15 and he's in the wrong, but it's money. People are like that about money, seems more often they are like that when they have more of it to spend.

Haha I work at a place that hosts kids b-day parties. We get some wack-job parents there.
When someone books a party, the schedule is gone over with them. 15 minutes in a room that has a TV, a basketball hoop and a bunch of toys (this is where we gather guests and then we get a picture of them all on a big chair). Then, they get to play on the moonbounces for an hour and then they go in the party room for 45 minutes.

People are usually fine with this.

Yesterday, as I was finishing up my party, this lady comes out of the photo room and is yelling a the front desk staff because its, in her own words "officially stupid that you expect 4 year olds to sit in a room with squat to do". They calmly tell her that this was gone over with her when she booked the party and that we gather guests in there initially and then when they come out the party that was previously out goes into their party room. She still keeps commenting that "this is officially stupid. If that's how you do it then fine, but you should know that I think this is officially ridiculous to make 4 year olds stay in this room." and she walks away.:hair:

First off, there is a good bit to do in that room. Aside from watching TV they can play with the basketball stuff, or various other things. We've had 10 year olds in there who actually were having fun!
Secondly, what is with the repeated "officially" used for everything? Since she said this is "OFFICIALLY stupid", it must mean that it is, right?:Sarcasmd: I almost wanted to stick around to see how the rest of the party went, but I had other things to do.

I only one I get yelled at by is the people working out in the gym. If all the tredmills or lap lanes in the pool are full people have a tendency of yelled at me like its my fault instead of waiting, picking a different cardio machine, or just sharing a lap lane like a civilized person. One time I even had a doctor start throwing metal hooks at my head that connect the ropes to the wall. I really wished that my boss would have told him not to come back to the gym because he has a really bad temper so I never feel safe if hes not getting his way. But no...just smile and nod...smile and nod...

My favorite was this past summer. A man had come in on a Monday night and asked if the key he had was one of our room keys. Said he had checked into his hotel late the night before and now couldn't find it. Explained that he was switching from hotel to hotel and that he was soon going to be staying with us, but was just wondering if it was our key-which it was not...

So we had three late arrivals that night, and the next morning there was still one person who had not checked in-thus was charged and his room was released. So I come in for my night shift, and low and behold, the same man walks in to check in to our hotel. Upon asking his last name, I realize he was the no show from the night before, and we had re-sold his room-thus not having a place for him to stay.

He was so angry! He said that he was going to sue us for charging him, that (even though he never told me his name) that I should have known he was susposed to be there last night (not that it would have mattered seeing as he had two rooms booked at two different hotels for the same night) and that we HAD to get him a new room and pay for it...

I found him a hotel with a room, and sent him on his way. I understand that it sucked that there was a mixup and he didn't have a room, but it was in noooo way my fault and it's Santa Barbara-just on our block there are 8 motels/hotels...I mean get over yourself...:hair:

I work at a money lending place... ooooh boy!

I have stories that would sour milk in an instant!
People begging me for 'just $20' so that they can go pay their dealer, or people having a mental breakdown in the lobby when they are turned down for another loan and there are always the drunk customers that come in on the weekends... sheesh!!!! they are no fun!

I had a guy who fell smack down on his face *wham* he was so drunk!
I have seen all kinds of cheque fraud, wire-money fraud, scammers, quick changers and just plain weird people.

I don't know why I work there! I'm educated and motivated but there is just something about that place that sucks you right in.

ETA: I was trying to think of a specific story I could tell, but most are just not family-forum oriented!

I work in a hospital and I get the occasional rude remark from patients, their family, or nursing staff, but nothing too bad. I have been yelled at by patients and pt family members over thins that have nothing to do with me or my job. Sometimes I can understand why they're upset (though being rude to me is not going to help anything). A lot of times though, they're being unreasonable. Nurses and coordinators have to deal with a lot so I don't usually mind if they take it out on me from time to time. The ones that are just plain rude all the time I can't stand.

My best friend works at Babies R' Us. She's been yelled at many time and even called a b***h once just because she told a guy they didn't carry what he was looking for. She hates working returns...people try to return things without tags or a receipt that they openly say they bought a year ago. They also frequently try to return things from other stores.

I worked in a Dr office and I knew at least once a day I would get yelled at(by staff as well, some Dr's are NASTY) or threatened or spit on, YUCK. I stayed for the Patients that were truly in need of my help, I was a Patient advocate, which means I can try to help but may not be able to do anything except to get dumped on.
My favorite is One patient mis used his medication and was angry when he couldnt get anymore, he was a BIG guy and I am Maybe 5ft and I got weight but he out weighed me by at least 150lbs, he was screaming like a two year old and I just went into Mommy mode and told him to sit down in a time out untill he could behave, he was so stunned he sat and apologized and asked me when he could get out of time out. I let him out after 15minutes and told him next time it will be longer, he never misbehaved again:thumbsup:I laughed so hard I was crying after he left and the story was told in many a meeting after that.
