I actually got him from a skunk rescue here in florida.

Are skunks good pets? Do you let him loose in your house or does he have a cage

he is a very good pet altho they are nocturnel so you do have to skunk proof. He is completely litter trained and free roaming. During the day he sleeps under my bed but often comes out to roam the house, at night he stays in my room so I know he is not getting into to much trouble lol. they sort of remind me of ferrets just not as hyper but the are very curious. Thumper is into everything as soon as it gets in his reach lol.

aw!! what a cute skunk! I love those things. I've held one before and I fell in love with it. But here it's nearly impossible to have one as a pet

yeah there are alot of strict laws and they are illegal in alot of states.

I love all your animals, but I must agree that Thumper steals my heart! Is he wearing a harness in that first picture? Also, are there different varieties of skunks since he isn't the "typical" black and white skunk? Is he considered a domesticated skunk? Last question, I promise, what is he like as a pet - cuddly, does he like to be pet or held, etc?

My mother had a skunk for a pet when she was growing up and he was a great pet.

yeah he is wering a harness he walks outside on a leash with me. He is still considered a domistic skunk, they have different color (about 15) and markings they have different stripes, solid ones and spotted ones, Thumper is a Chocolate frost. He is a very cuddle boy. he can be alittle difficult to catch if he wants to be but once you have him you have a friend for life. he will rub noses to give kisses and bury his head in your neck to sleep. every morning I wake up to him snuggled in my arms under the covers he climb in bed when he is done playing and goes to sleep until I get up then he goes under the bed where all his blankets are and sleeps. I dont mind the questions at all thats how we learn. also wanted to say sorry I did not mean to hijack your name it is what I use on most forums and did not reliaze there was already a Jenn.

Here, you have to have a USDA exhibitor's license and you have to get monthly vet certificates of health.

I just love them though....

Oh, and your Basset is a sweetheart. I love bassets....:heart3:

He is actually a beagle akc registered other wise I would not believe it lol. He has the longest beagle ears I have ever seen.
