Expert Wheel Scrubber
My Dad's two elderly dogs passed away within a few months of each other, just before Christmas. He wasn't planning on getting another dog just yet, but this little girl came along needing a home, and well, he just couldn't say no!
Apparently she was found with her siblings in a garbage bag on the side of the road, at about six weeks of age. A fellow adopted her from the SPCA, but he had to travel up to Ft. Mac for work and so the dog often stayed with his parents. They did their best but managed to teach her some awful habits (unintentionally, of course). For example, when someone would come to the door, she would bark and snarl, and they tried to "comfort" her by petting her, telling her she was a good girl, and giving her cookies. You can see where this went, right? :rolleyes2:
My dad has had her for a couple of months now and has almost completely trained those habits out of her. He is a big fan of Cesar Milan (The Dog Whisperer) and has been using his techniques. He also has a behaviourist coming to evaluate her next month and to give him some more tips and advice. She is a really smart dog and just wants to please her human - she's just still learning how to do that. She is already very bonded to my mom & dad, and can't start her day unless she has greeted both of them. She is just over a year old now.
So, without further ado, here is the beautiful Xena!
Waiting for a treat:
I think she might be trying to use telekinesis to get the carrot. It would explain the goofy expression! She loves carrots.
Looking pretty.
