My Dad's two elderly dogs passed away within a few months of each other, just before Christmas. He wasn't planning on getting another dog just yet, but this little girl came along needing a home, and well, he just couldn't say no!

Apparently she was found with her siblings in a garbage bag on the side of the road, at about six weeks of age. A fellow adopted her from the SPCA, but he had to travel up to Ft. Mac for work and so the dog often stayed with his parents. They did their best but managed to teach her some awful habits (unintentionally, of course). For example, when someone would come to the door, she would bark and snarl, and they tried to "comfort" her by petting her, telling her she was a good girl, and giving her cookies. You can see where this went, right? :rolleyes2:

My dad has had her for a couple of months now and has almost completely trained those habits out of her. He is a big fan of Cesar Milan (The Dog Whisperer) and has been using his techniques. He also has a behaviourist coming to evaluate her next month and to give him some more tips and advice. She is a really smart dog and just wants to please her human - she's just still learning how to do that. She is already very bonded to my mom & dad, and can't start her day unless she has greeted both of them. She is just over a year old now.

So, without further ado, here is the beautiful Xena!

Waiting for a treat:

I think she might be trying to use telekinesis to get the carrot. It would explain the goofy expression! She loves carrots.

she is beautiful! im glad she has such a loveing home =]
do you have any ideas of what breed she is? she is so pretty! i love her eyes

I was tinking the same thing about what type of breed she is, if you know! She definitely is gorgeous! Cute pic of her squinting at the carrot, lol.

She's some kind of mix. The best we and the vet can guess, she's got some lab, some shepherd, and possibly some Chesapeake in her. None of that explains her super goofy curly tail though!

LOL - Love the carrot picture! That's awesome.

She's a beautiful girl. :)

She's beautiful!

What's the tattoo in her ear from? Was that done at the SPCA or did she have that when they got her?

I'm not really sure what that tattoo is. She had it when they got her. I know that tattoos used to be used for identification, like microchips are now, but I didn't think that it was used any more. She's going to get microchipped soon anyway. :)

She is a very pretty girl. She looks a lot like my step dog and he was 3/4 lab and 1/4 lab.

Zena is beautiful!

My first instinct was to suggest Canaan Dog.
