Hi,
We are going to be moving with our chins to a new state. We got travel cages for them to bring them in the car with us, but we are trying to figure out what to do with their home. We have a ferret nation- is it easy to take this apart and transport it in a car? The other option is to get them a temporary small cage for a week and ship the ferret nation down in the truck. Any ideas? I want them to be safe and comfortable!
Thanks :)

Honestly, I'd keep the FN together and ship it in the truck if it's not going to cost you extra. Those things are a giant PAIN to disassemble and reassemble!

That's putting it lightly! With that being said I've done it twice in the last 6 months. It is do-able, just a royal annoyance. It's always a good idea to have a temp cage on hand anyway. You never know if you'll have to separate fighting chins, or if a chin gets injured and needs a more confined space. I invested in very nice, all metal, temp cages from quality cage company:

I've found that when chins are used to a luxurious FN they get a little stir crazy in the smaller cage. When we travel I give mine extra playtime and extra toys to help with the boredom. I really like these cages because all the components are safe, so I don't have to worry about them chewing on plastic like most cages you'll get at a petstore. They're also easy to clean, and fold nicely for storage. Although Sandi may disagree with this last statement, she hated the spring mechanisms on the doors when she fostered for me.

Thanks for the info! We decided to throw the FN into the moving truck and found some safe all metal cages for temporary homes. They aren't thrilled about it, but they are safe. The cages are collapsable too- so if we need some chin-sitting in the future, this should really help. We also got small travel cages from quality cage for the actual ride down.
The FN arrives on Wednesday and we're going to have it all set up for them by the time they arrive. I can't believe how much they love that thing! Go go chinnie castle :)
