So I'm graduating in May and have to move all my stuff I've accumulated over the 4 years I've been in MI down to VA where I'll be attending vet school in the fall.
I've never done a full blown move (Although in actuality it's maybe 2 rooms worth of stuff) - so I'm looking for any tips and discounts if you happen to know someone who knows someone
The most difficult thing is the transportation - holy cow rental trucks are expensive!
Mom told me to call PODS since it looks like the ideal thing - I about had a heart attack when they quoted me over TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS just to move my stuff down there and another $125/mo to store it! :banghead: Is it legal to rip people off like that!? Where does the cost ever balance out with the convenience?
So now it looks like we're back to looking for rental trucks - mom really wanted a van since we could probably stuff everything in a van and my car, but vans are only for local moves (bunch a bull). So we gotta find a truck.
So, any tips or shortcuts you guys have learned the hard way?
eta: no chins or anything involved in the move - just two dogs, thankfully!
