Recently my area has been under a constant cover of rain, and thus has produced mold. Unfortunately my window leaked and I have mold growing in my chin room. I removed them immediately and cleaned it, but now it's back. I had just recently went on vacation, and I had cleaned it before I left, but since I found it again, I have no idea how long it's been there. There's not a lot, just a small patch and it is primarily white. I know mold can cause respiratory problems, and I'm worried about my chins. I haven't seen any symptoms, but I'm just really concerned.

with recurring mold, the mold is most likely deep into the wall and you will likely have to rip the wall apart to disinfect it all and probably replace most of the drywall, etc. i would have a professional contractor in to do this sort of work, because you never know what type of mold spore you are dealing with, and it's better to be a little poorer after and a lot safer. the chins obviously will need housed elsewhere while this is going on.

Clean the wall with a bleach/water mixture, really soak it in (bleach kills mold), and let it dry. Seal the wall with some kind of primer that is specifically used to kill mold like Kilz. After that, paint it and you should be fine. We had an a/c leak here and this took care of the issue.

I don't know why everybody posts that you have to gut a room, especially for such a small patch, or that the house needs to be condemned. It can be dealt with without major reconstruction.

We did exactly what Tunes suggested here in our house - the previous owner didn't vent the dryer outside (who knows why) and there was some mold in the back portion of the house where the humid, warm air accumulated - we did exactly what Tunes suggested, and I scrubbed down all of the walls, not just the mold area (small patch) to be safe. Took care of our issue.

And of course we vented out the dryer!
