Has anyone on here ever had to deal with a melting ulcer?
Both of my Frenchies seem to get one or two corneal ulcers every year from scratching at their face or by walking into things. It seems that we just got through Louis' last one - which was the biggest one he has ever had - and now this.
On Tuesday night, Zoe's right started looking a little bit "squinty" so we started using Tobramycin eye drops to help it clear up. Wedensday morning, it was a little hazy. Wednesday night when I got home from school, the surface was uneven, her eyelid was swollen and her eye looked solid blue. This wasn't a simple corneal ulcer, the bacteria had started to eat away at the layers of her eye, hence the name 'melting ulcer'.
So now, after a vet visit, six kinds of eye drops, oral antibiotics and painkillers, we are on an hourly schedule (including overnight) and she finally looks to be making some improvement.
