hi. i have a huge amount of melemine board 8ft by 4ft and looking to build a huge cage about 7 ft high x 2ft deep 6 ft wide for my 3 littlke darlings who are currently housed in a smaller metal cage. can anyone give me any advice on how to build melamine cages? as i am a novice but have all the right kit to give it a go...(oh dear lol.
i currently have 3 chinchillas and an average cage so desperate to upgrade....what sort of wood do peeps use for the cage doors and to create the frame? how do you attach the wire to the doors? any advice/help would be apreciated many thanks.

i didnt use melamine to build my cage, however when building the frame we only used kiln dried pine and to attach the wire to the doors we used a staple gun.

if you use the search function, you can search on how to build cages and using melamine. when we were building i found pretty extensive instructions here and online.

I used Pine for the door and window frames on my melamine cage, and staples to attach the wire as well. I had no previous building experience when I did mine, but a friend told me to pre drill holes anywhere I was going to use a screw, as melamine cracks easily. It added alot of work,..lol,..but I did it and my cage is very solid. Put some supports in the back and bottom for stability and strenght as well...like so,..

ETA,...I never screwed melamine to melamine,...but rather melamine to a Pine support piece.
