Hi, my name's Kalista. My former roommate chose to leave her chin with us when she moved...so I'm now a chin mama, unexpectedly. I'd had pretty minimal contact with the chin since she lived in a different area of the house. I kind of gave the roommate space with the chin since it was 'her' pet. You know?
I was nervous about interacting with Bella (whom I call Bells) at first. I've sat back in her room and talked with her and have been changing her food and water for the last few weeks. She'll take treats out of my hand and nibble on my fingers. My husband says she does not seem overly skittish around me. We got her out last night and let her run around the room for while we just kinda sat with her.
She has one of those round play areas and I'm more inclined to bring her out into the house now that we do not have a dog any longer. I was always worried that the border collie's inquisitiveness would cause her more stress. Sadly, a few weeks ago we had to put down our dog.
So I feel safer bringing Bells out into the house, and I think it will be good for her mental health as well as for me. Since she's going to be my responsibility now, I want to make sure she's cared for correctly and is happy and healthy. I think that having a new fuzzy companion could be good for me as well. :heart5:
Anyway, the other basics are that Bells is about a year old. She's a standard color. My husband says she's chatty, although I have only heard noises once or twice due to my previous limited interaction with her. She's been very gentle with me but I can tell she is still skittish.
Thanks for letting me be part of such an informative forum. I'm looking forward to what I can learn and one day share!
