I went into a flooring store in my little city and asked if they had any single marble tiles for sale. I mentioned it was for my chinchilla. She then asked me a question that I had no idea how to answer.

Does it have to be marble? Can it be porcelain or ceramic?

Thanks!

it can be porcelain or ceramic or granite even. :)

one thing I found w/ ceramic tiles tho is the chins can move those around because they aren't as heavy, so make sure you have them secured or blocked off in some way to prevent them from getting pushed off a shelf and breaking.

Thanks so much!

I do remodeling for a living, so I often have leftover tiles and pieces. If not, I can always cut them to any size that I want. Currently, I am using granite b/c it is pretty. Porcelain will be the hardest and often thinest. Ceramic is usually the cheapest. I'd stay away from travertine or slate b/c it often has pits or flakes and a chin could easily bite a piece off.
