Its almost summer and I've been wanting to get some tiles for my chinchilla. I live in Vancouver so summer doesn't get too hot and the chinchilla cage is where the temperature is pretty much 3-4 degrees lower than the temperature outside

I was looking into buying marble and/or granite tiles from home depot to put in her cage so she has a place to lay down on when it does get a bit warmer or when she wants to cool down.

Is there anything I have to do to the tiles to ensure their chin proof? Like look for any coatings I can't have on it or such?

Thanks! =)

You want just plain raw granite or marble, with no sealant. Personally I've gone with ceramic tiles, they are almost a cool but aren't porous like marble and granite so they wont absorb pee and stuff, so easier to clean, as well as being a fraction of the price. The tiles are NOT a replacement for a/c though, if the temp gets above 25 C (lower then that if it's humid) for any real length of time the chin will die. The tiles work in combination with an already cool room, like after playtime to help cool off.

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you!
It rarely gets over 25 in the lower part of my house where I keep the chinchilla. If it does get hotter, i'm going to buy a portable AC and put it where she's at =)
