I have two male chins that I've been trying to introduce for the last few Weeks during play time and it seems to be going ok except our original chin keeps climbing on top of the other male like he's trying to mate. Obviously, the newer chin isn't too happy and gives a little bark and he gets off. Is this normal dominance behavior? I've never introduced chins before.

Thanks

Yep, it's normal. If it escalates, if it's prolonged, if the other male appears to be becoming depressed, off his feed, etc., then you need to separate them permanently.

You can try trimming the whiskers very short on the dominant male. That may take care of it while you introduce them.

It might, but it depends on the individual chin.

I've had my boys for about 6 months now, and they have been together for even longer before my ownership (they are 3-4 years old!)... I'm not sure if my input helps, but these two get frisky with one another every now and then, maybe 2-3 random times a week... The victim always scurries away and the action resolves quickly, but it always makes for an entertaining 15 seconds or so. =P

I specialize in **** pairs. =) I have two sets of males and they've been known to hump each other and they don't fight for dominance in any other way that I have seen. At one point I watched Talyn hump Kallel's head and Kallel was so -not- happy about that.
