Look What I Found...

So, I witnessed my chins Aurora and Blizzard (Violet Female & Pink White Male) physically mate when she was in heat on June 17th, so- I marked it...counted down and she would have a due date of about October 7th. Great! I never found a plug though...but I know its rare. She then started gaining weight and her nipples seemed to have elongated. In the 50 days since I witnessed them mate she gained about 40 grams so far, and now has evened out which I know is also normal before gaining again towards the end.

So last night (day 52) I weighed her and noticed she was open and in heat again. Well, I watched them mate several times over the course of the night and this morning found this... (see attachment) at the bottom of the cage.

What do you think? could she be pregnant from June and just went into heat again 50 days later? Or should I scratch it and not count on October and expect thanksgiving babies from the mating last night? Thoughts?

Definitely expect Thanksgiving babies BUT, just the same, I'd really keep an eye on her. If she shows obvious signs she may be due in October I'd remove the male just the same. I'd rather a date go by with no kits than a date come and find dead kits from an aggressive male

Thank you, Vyxxin! I'm weighing her regularly. She lost about 10 grams at about date 50ish (if June making "took") and has, since then, begun gaining weight again at about 2 grams a day thus far. So yes, I must keep a close eye for signs for October just incase.
