Loofah and pumice

I got Loof-a-chews at a pet store because it showed a picture of a chinchilla on the package, and my chinchillas love them! However, I bought out all the ones at the store and they have not gotten any more in, the owner said they are on back order...

Anyway, so I was wondering if it was safe to just get ones for people? Or is there a hidden danger or something different between them?

I was also wondering about pumice stones/chews. Currently, I have been giving them lava bites and they love them, but I was wondering if anyone has tried the pumice chews at Wal-Mart? Or another brand? Or the ones for people's feet... are they different?

There is not much selection here in town for anything besides cats and dogs... I guess variety is not the spice of life for my chinnies *sigh*

I would not use pumice or loofah intended for people. Sometimes they are impregnated with antibacterial agents. There are several people on here who sell loofah and pumice stones at very reasonable rates. Check out the classified sectons here on the forum.

Also, the ones in the stores are bleached. Loofah when uncolored should be a light tanish brown color. The ones in the stores are white.

Not sure about pumice stones as I buy mine from a different seller.
