As some of you know Lola was mistreated before i had her and her fur was matted and greasy. I have spent quite a bit of time getting her fur back to how it should be, but lately i have noticed that another matt is on her side and her fur on the sides is looking a little ragged (i have tried to get the matt out but they are always so close to her skin and it hurts her to pull). I have tried to brush her fur and apart from the one matt its soft but uneven. I find it a little sad because her top half is really smooth and im starting to worry that maybe she is chewing her fur, Dotty's fur is lovely and they groom each other nicely (mainly around the face as they snuggle).

After everything Lola has been through i want the rest of her life to be happy and im starting to wonder if how badly she was treated before and the condition she was in is affecting her behaviour now as a result.

I will post a picture later when i get them out for playtime, as i would like your opinions and advice on what i should do pleaseeee ;)

If she's chewing her fur, it may just be a personality trait. Some chins just chew no matter how good of a home they are in. Others chew due to stress. If she is chewing, you can just keep providing good care and toys to give her something else to chew on, but she may continue to chew. And really, that doesn't make her any less good, her fur just may never be as pretty as you'd like.

I have one girl here who chews when stressed, like if we move to a new home. Here's a picture of her chewing, perhaps you can see if your chin looks similar to this

She does look similar, she has more round the back legs and seems to be where she can reach and she does groom it, but i sometimes think she goes over the top with it. When i had her she had no wood toys in the cage and all she had was a plastic bathing house to sleep in (the food, sand and water bottle were brand new and not been used), i notice aswell that she chews her wood almost obsessivly. Her personality is fantastic though and all things considered im supprised she is as friendly as she is, and honestly i dont care what she looks like as long as shes a happy chinnie :)
