I seen on the service dog thread by Carol, Amandadi's lab pulling th door open.....I wanted to teach Lola to do it. I think I spent 4 minutes teaching her and she felt SO proud of herself. I think that must be record time that she has EVER learnt something like that in!!!

I am SO proud of her too.....I showed her and she also wanted to try and did in within no time at all....OH, probably helped that it was the heavier cabinet door where her treats are kept. She gets so excited in the mornings when getting her treat.

What else could we teach her. I know things like this are necessary to keep their brains stimulated. Good girl, eh?

She knows how to push the door open, a bit easier and lets herself into the house/bedroom anywhere all the time but sometimes wonder why some doors won't open...When she is on the wrong side pushing haha.

She knows boths paws too but can't get her to lay yet?

What do your dogs know? What age are they too? Lolas 2 1/2.

Her daydreaming as always....

She looks really sweet Mae...love that first picture! I've never had a dog myself, but I know cute when I see it! :)

Lola's beautiful as always, Mae! I'm going to guess she's a highly energetic dog, right? What about making up some of your own agility type things for her in the yard?

What a regal looking dog! She is so sweet and smart. My dog's trainers told us to teach him all kinds of tricks because he is so smart, but I haven't made the commitment to work with him. I can't remember some of the things they told me, but one would be to have your dog put her own toys away and to get things for you. I bet you could find a book or a site on training. Also, I would take small treats - I use freeze dried liver treats - or bits of dry dog food and put one here and there around the yard and encourage your dog to find it. You have your dog sit and stay and have her watch you put down food or treats in various locations then come back to her and have her go see. Your dog will have a lot of fun using her nose to find the treats. But kudos to you for working with your dog to bring out her full potential!

She s precious and a smarty too!

Here are some tricks MY Lola knows. She learned them quite quickly..

Bark(on command)
Whisper(on command)
Patty Cake
Dance
Pick up her blankie and hand it to me
the difference between her regular bone and a blue bone and a regular ball (same size and material) and her blue ball... I read some where that dogs can see different shades of blue so on top of her girly toys she has blue boyish ones so she can "see" them.. LOL

Im trying to get her to learn to pick up trash and throw it away. I read it on a pitbull forum and thats our next trick we are doing..

She is gorgeous Mae!

Chelsea is an old dog, about 12 yrs old. She doesn't know much other than to come when called, sit, and lay. Oh and if I say "streeeetch" she spreads out her back and front legs as far as she can, lol. And she scratches her bowls when they are empty as a sign for me to fill them up.

I've got a 13lb mutt and a little 5 lb yorkie.

The yorkie is 1yr 5months and knows:

Sit
Down
Dance
Bottom of the bed
Get Daddy ;) haha (she just runs to him and bounces on his legs)
On the grass

Luna the mutt is 10 months old and knows:

Sit
Stand (and then if you tell her to hold it she freezes)
Down
On the grass
Bottom of the bed
Go potty
Bring me the toy (point at anything and she'll pick it up and bring it to you)

And they are both crate trained:thumbsup:

Cute stories. Hmm, if I had a dog maybe I would teach it to get me a soda out of the fridge, turn the lights on/off and bring the phone.

Cleo knows: sit, down, beg (sits on her back legs, forefeet up), circle (turns to her left on all 4s), spin (turns to her left on her back feet), wait, stop, and 'touch' to ask to jump onto your lap. For some reason, though, she won't circle or spin to her right, only to her left. My MiL's dogs also know 'shake' and 'back up', which can be hard for a dog to learn b/c they don't naturally go in reverse that much.

Taz knows how to sit, stay, crawl, roll over, wait, sing (howl like a wolf), speak (bark), high five, back, stop, and no. She knows not to take treats without permission and she won't eat anything without hearing "okay" first. We can put a piece of meat in her mouth and she won't eat it until we give her the go ahead. She also sits, shakes, lays down and high fives with hand signals - I point and she does them.

When Adam and I were bored one night, we taught her how to fetch cans of beer from boxes or tables. I thought I was being cute by telling her to get a beer and pointing to the box - I nearly choked when she stuck her head into the box and brought a can to me. She did it 10 times in a row and then I figured I'd test her. I asked her to bring a can of beer from the coffee table in the next room, where my sister was having a get together.

My sister and her friends were very ticked off and surprised when Taz trotted into the room, grabbed a closed can of beer off the table and brought it to me. She then brought it back to them when I asked her to.
