So ever since I've had my chinchilla (about a month now) she has always seemed really excited when someone came over to her cage and she would jump around and bite at the little bars. She just loves people. I usually take her out and hold her and that satisfies her but yesterday when I did she ran up to my neck and started making these little grumbly sounds until I supported her there with my hands. Then she cuddled into a little ball, pressed against my neck and just stayed there for the longest time! She even fell asleep- and this was at night when she's usually playing. She did the same thing again tonight, and she does not like being put back into her cage afterwards.
Does anyone else's chin like to be held/kept warm? Her ears always feel a little cold on my face when she's perched there even though my apartment is usually between 70-72° F. I know it's not safe for her to get overheated so I am mindful of how long we snuggle but everytime I put her back her ears are a little pink, and she still doesn't want to be put down! She is fine in her cage for a while but if I'm in sight of her she will do the whole thing over again until she's held again. She doesn't like it as much and won't get comfortable if my hands are cold.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but she is roughly four months old.
