Hey! I apologize if this has been asked before, but I was wondering:

For the hanging toys that you can refill, do your chinchillas chew up all the wood? Or only some? If so, how often do you replace the wood? Mine always chews off all the bark immediately, but then her interest seems to subside. She does still chew on the wood, but not with as much gusto, and eventually I just replace the pieces with new ones. However, I always feel guilty about just throwing the "used" pieces away, especially as sometimes they are quite large. Sometimes I just take them off and distribute them freely among her cage; however, then they usually end up on the bottom with pee on them and I throw them away anyway.

Is there anything else to do with these pieces, i.e. somehow make a new toy or...? Or a way to renew Pantoufle's interest in them?

I take the used up toys out of the cage. If there's still wood left, I hang onto them and will put them back in later. For me, I switch them in between cages, but if you only have one cage you can just hang onto them and use them again in a couple weeks. It seems like once you take them out and put them back in later they show more interest in them. I think they get bored with the same toys in the same spots.
