Ledge question

If I put a ledge that runs the length of the cage, at its highest point in the cage it leaves about 5'' of clearance from the top. Is this enough for a chinchilla to jump up onto without the chin hitting the top of it's head on the top of the cage, or should I lower it to a spot with more clearance? Thanks.

Chins will squish themselves into very tight spots so yes, there is room. You can lower it, it's really up to you. I have a wooden house with very little room (like 3 inches maybe) to the top of the cage but my girls manage to fit themselves in there just fine LOL.
