I have a female with a proven male since mid January she's still not pregnant at least I don't think she is. My concern is that her tail base is so thick like the end of a big asparagus can this be a problem of her not getting pregnant?

No, some have extremely thick tails, some have thin ones. I've never noticed a correspondence. I'd give her a few more months, douche/swab her and move her to a more productive male.

I have never in my life heard of tail bases having anything to do with breeding at all...and only in breeding since mid-january...That is NOTHING in breeding time. It can take a while for them to breed sometimes. It has only been 7 months

I'll just them together. He's the only male here in breeding. His sons are housed together.

My thick tailed girls seem to be the biggest girls around here, and large girls are sometimes slower. I agree with Kristie: since mid-January is nothing! :). I start to tear my hair out at a year with the same male & no kits...

That is not much time. I put my **** beige girl in breeding last January (2010) and only now (July 2011) did she have babies. She was also with a proven male. Same with Spaz... took her two years to get finally pregnant.

I've never heard of tail base having anything to do with reproductive success or lack thereof.
