Riven
Bad Chin
I have always had a knee that "sticks" and is uncomfortable until I pop it, which I do by standing on that leg and just kind of twisting, if that makes sense.
A couple months ago I started working out, I haven't "worked out" for...well before I was born? Does PE count? I used to walk and roller blade all the time though.
While working out and doing leg lifts on the weight machines I found my right knee ached. So I always went really easy on it, thinking maybe I just need to get it into shape and it was weak. I was doing the minimum which is 12.5 lbs. then pretty soon was doing less of them, skipping some days, then using the left leg more, then eventually not even doing that anymore. As time went on it began to ache, even be almost painful after exercising, even without working it, then it began to hurt after about 15-20 minutes on the procor...
Then I starting thinking about how I should get it looked at, but was thinking what if they want to do surgery on it... Which reminded me that was the same knee my Grandpa had to have replaced, so I asked my mom, and that's the same knee of hers that she has problems with...
Now it gets achey even when I don't exercise that day, just from normal lifting, etc. we have a tri-level so I'm always up and down steps. I've found that a light neoprene type of brace helps it.
Any thoughts or suggestions of any kind? Should I get it looked at? Am I over re-acting? Could I prevent problems down the road or am I just prolonging the inevitable? :help2:
BTW: It is the inside of my knee, would be the MCL? Sorry, I can handle blood, guts, puss, muscles, but bones and tendons freak me out!
ETA: That's how I have to pop my knee when it gets "stuck"! :cry4:

What happens with a meniscus tear (torn cartilage)?
The two most common causes of a meniscus tear are due to traumatic injury (often seen in athletes) and degenerative processes (seen in older patients who have more brittle cartilage). The most common mechanism of a traumatic meniscus tear occurs when the knee joint is bent and the knee is then twisted.
