I've never ordered from this site but I've been looking into different sites to order hay from as buy by the bag isn't the best deal for 8 chins and 2 degu.

But I was looking at this site and wasn't sure how many pounds or ounce was being sold.

Example: 15 Timothy 2nd Cut

Is the number in the front (15) the number of pounds being ordered?

Yep, the 15 is pounds. 15 pounds of hay is A LOT of hay. I ordered 9 pounds of bluegrass a year ago and we're a little more than half way through the box with 3 chins. They were getting it just as a treat for a while, but now it's their main hay just so we can get through the box.

I saw 9 pound boxes of some types, I think.

Is shipping usually so high?

14 lbs - $23 to ship
9 lbs - $20 to ship
5 lbs - $19 to ship

Granted I live in the middle of no where, but seems a bit high to me.

For those that order from them, do you mind telling me how many pounds you ordered, how many pets eat it, and how long it usually last?

We have 15 bales of organic hay to feed out before it loses nutritional value. Roughly 750lbs. We bought them to get the rabbits through the winter and then due to circumstances we decided to sell all 60 some rabbits except for 4 we couldn't part with and bring those 4 inside. I do have 10lbs of km's bluegrass. I think we ordered it a month ago and with feeding half bluegrass and half organic clover/alfalfa hay we haven't put a dent in the hay bag. My current chin count might be off... Katsu, Aime, Keck, Inada, Aika, Hajime, Hachiro, and the triplets makes 10 plus 4 small breed rabbits eating the hay.

In August of this year, I ordered from them for the first time. I ordered 5 lbs of 3rd timothy and 5 lbs of bluegrass. The 5 lbs comes in a regular sized white garbage bag, so that gives you an idea how much hay it is. They charged $16.66 to ship on UPS. I am just now ordering again and this time I am getting 5 lbs of each (2nd, 3rd timothy and bluegrass). I'm not completely out- but close.

I do agree the shipping is a little pricey, but it's worth it- trust me. My chins usually lose interest in hays, but not this one. They love it for some reason. I have three chinchillas. You won't regret ordering from them!
