I've been searching for kiln dried pine for the last week or so to make ledges for my new FN cages- I've checked Lowes, Home Deopt, & other building stores but nobody seems to carry it. Where do you guys get your wood?

97% of pine sold at the stores you visited IS KDP - they just don't know it!!!
What you looked at is safe - just go get it!!!!
I usually choose the straigt boards with knots, as my chins seem to chew around them, and you're allowed to pick through the stack!
Others have said their chins chew them first - - ?

It should be stamped KD on the end when you buy it at Home Depot. They have a couple of different kinds of pine (some more expensive). Either is fine, just look for the stamp on the end of the board.

home depot & lowes. they usually have a stamp or a sticker on them that says either KDP or kiln dried pine. i have also seen heat treated or unprocessed terms used.
they have several widths & lengths.

i also get my 12 x 12 marble or tiles there for the cages........sometimes they have an open box special and you can get a great deal!
