Hello, I have made my chinchilla all wooden shelves for his cage. Yesterday I went to buy some more wood to make extra shelves for when these ones get destroyed ;) I bought the same kind as last time and also bought one that is much wider the sign said "Pine (some other letters) KD" I was told that the KD was for Kiln dried and it was found down the same isle as the other wood I have bought before.

I got the wood cut in the store and got home to make my shelves, well I noticed that the bigger piece of wood has a strip of pinkish wood going through it that feels really smooth and is a little tacky/sticky. I see no visible sap, but I don't feel safe putting it in my cage... what do you guys think?

I would say that it looks slightly more pink than the picture shows and it goes all the way through the wood.

Thanks!

Thank you everyone. I can't believe after all the shelves I have made I never saw this before. Makes total sense what it is now though, but I can't help being paranoid with the little guy. I can't wait to put it in the cage today!
