As long as the bag says the pine shavings is kiln-dried, is it a completely safe bedding for chinchillas? What benefits does Aspen have over the K-D pine? Which, of the two, do you recommend?

In particular, is the Premier Pet kiln-dried pine bedding (found at PetSmart) okay? I read on the bag that it has the k-d pine plus some other safe woods such as aspen, my question is does it have cedar?

The Premier Pet bedding is fine to use. I've used it for years with no issues. Aspen has less smell than the pine, and doesn't tend to bother my allergies as much. Either work well as bedding. I've found that mine is a bit more "fluffier" than aspen. I think it's just the way it's cut.

I use just plain kd pine bedding, bought in huge bags from Tractor Supply Co or Fleet Farm, if you buy the big bags meant for horses it's a lot cheaper than buying at Petsmart/PetCo.

I like pine because it seems to be cut bigger, so for me it makes less of a mess, but some like aspen because it doesn't have as much of a scent.
