hey guys I was just wondering what you guys do to try and keep all the mess from falling out of the cage. I have a ferret nation cage and still use the plastic pan that came with it. I use fleece liners to cover the plastic. I know some people use the bass pans and I've seen some people put wood around the base. Does anybody do anything different? I'm probably gonna order the metal pans, but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas first.

I've seen some people weave a few inch wide fleece strips into the the wires around the cage, but it just seems like more work to me since they would get messy. Since I see you are in Canada too, you might want to check out Sunny Meadows Cages and Supplies for metal pans, they are cheaper and would be a lot cheaper on shipping within Canada instead of shipping from the US. I haven't tried them yet, but I plan to order them next year (I think I spent enough on the fur balls for one year, lol).

This website sells scatter guards for the Ferret nation (the 2 very last products, scroll down to the bottom of the page). They ship from Brampton, Ontario. I've ordered from them before. They're awesome, and I got my order within 48hrs. :)

The biggest issue I'd have with those is they are plastic, so you'd have to cover not only the pan but also the guards to prevent the chin from chewing it, so normal liners would be useless. Also the scatter guards for the bottom tray for example cost $22.95, the metal trays from Sunny Meadows are $18.50, are only half an inch shorter (3 1/2" instead of 4") and don't require extra covering or taking them apart to clean. There is also even metal pans for the shelves from Sunny Meadows.
