Ok, so I finally tried out the fleece liners and LOVE them. So much less mess and, suprisingly, seems more hygenic. Also, the chins love them.

The only problem is my chins like to rearrange their cages a lot and they think the fleece liners are a new toy for them. I am constantly having the put them back in place. So I have been trying to think of a way to secure them that would be safe for the chins.

After making some hammocks, I got the idea to put grommets (spelling?) in the four corners and use small hooks to attach them to the corners of the cage. Has anyone tried this before? Do you think it would work?

Any other tricks that anyone has tried?

Thanks,
CiCi

I know some people have velcro on the fleece/pans and they velcro it down. I've also heard of using magnets, but i'm not sure how if this works.

I don't use liners but I make them, I either do tabs with clips to clip to the cage bars, or industrial strength velcro. The velcro works better to keep them in place though.
Otherwise you can just make sure you have lots of things on the bottom of the cage like marble tiles and things to keep the corners down.

One of my chins is able to pull up the industrial strength velcro, so I've been trying to figure out how to keep them in place also. I tried putting a house in one corner to weigh it down where he liked to pull it up, but he still manages to do it anyways! but the grommets with clips sounds like a good idea, i might just try that.

I tried velcro, and it worked for awhile. Most of the chins don't mess with their liners, and their pots/houses keep them in place. Though for the ones that like to mess with the liners, I use a small (but heavy) granite slab in the corners and I haven't had to deal with mesed up liners since!

I have grommets in some of mine, and put split rings (keyrings) through that, and attached it to the side with tiny lanyard hooks. It works well.

It does help to hold it down with a hidey house, or granite chinchillers, or tile. :)

When I (oooook, you got me....my mom) sewed mine, she sewed strips of the fleece on, so they could be used as ties to keep it attached to the cage. She sewed them so that the seams didn't show. I'm tired right now, so I'm not sure if that makes sense. I'll try to take a pic of it so you can see.

It does just fine. I sewed all the way around it when I sewed it onto the liner, so it is attached pretty well. I have had more of a problem keeping the adhesive velcro stuck to the pans. I scrubbed them all down before I attached the velcro, but it seems there was still some residual dust or something and the adhesive didn't take hold in a few places. But it still works well enough to keep my babies from pulling them up. After a week or so they quit trying.

I think I might give the grommets and hooks a try first. I don't think even "industrial strength" velcro would hold up to my crazy little chins :)

Thanks for all the ideas!
