I have some Kaytee dust bath that my chinchilla has used twice. The first time was perfectly fine. I mean she did sneeze and rub her nose but over all good. This time, just tonight, she sneezed and rubbed her nose just like before but in the corners of her eyes it was small goo like her eyes had maybe teared and then started to dry up. I don't recall seeing this before she took the dust bath so could it be because of the dust that I have? Is this normal?

Kaytee is the worst dust out there! When I bought my first chin at the Pet store they told me to use Kaytee and it was the best. I talked to a local breeder who recomended Blue Cloud. What a difference in my Chins. I would never buy anything other! My babies look beautifull!! Try it!

Alright. I suppose I will be making a trip to the store soon. Just out of curiousity what makes the Kaytee bad?

Kaytee is just less fine and inferior quality. Since chinchillas don't bathe in water, the dust gets down into their furs to soak up excess oils from the fur.

They sell Blue Cloud in plasic jar jug containers at PetSmart, but you can get it cheaper from a supplier here on the forum.

Thanks for explaining and that makes sense. I am going to go hunt some Blue Cloud.
