So, some of you saw my posting on the craigslist area about the 5 chinchillas in Kankakee that needed to be rescued. A big thank you goes out to Jodi (JodiO on here) and her friend for bringing the chins to the rescue.

We have 5 chins in total - three males and two females. They were nice greaseballs, not exactly your ideal chin, when they were picked up, but with some dust baths and TLC they have perked up and are doing well.

Thought I'd share some before and after pictures:

And Nike and Squeakers (father and son) are getting along wonderfully together:

They're all doing great here, eating, drinking, pooing, and chewing, oh and LOVING their dust baths.

If anyone has any thoughts on how to get the orange coloration off of Tazzie, suggestions are appreciated. Dust baths seem to be helping (she is less orange than she was in the picture I took when she first arrived) somewhat.

A big thank you to everyone who offered their help - whether or not we needed your help, we appreciate the offer. Thank you.

It's amazing what just a good old dust bath will do! You would not believe the number of greasy chins I've seen...gets one to wondering if they're actually being bathed and in WHAT to become so darned greasy. Anyhow, good job...those are some cutie pies :)

Glad Jodi was able to help. The chins are looking better & that Nike's markings are so unique.

Thanks for posting the pics!!! It's great to see them doing so well. Is Wizzard as mean as she led us to believe or did he just need some TLC? Glad we were able to help!!!

Nah, I've had Wizard out several times and he's never tried as much as a nip. And she said he was so mean to her. Maybe he understood he wasnt being taken care of well or something. He's sweet. In fact, they all are. I took them out for weights again and everyone came out reasonably willingly, just a few kacks from Nike (who is really growing on me, LOVE those markings) and they all are holding their own and doing well. And they look so much better, I'm happy for them. So nice to see them munching on hay and chewing on chew toys as they should be. :))
