He's got a nice voice, but I'm hoping for Susan! SHE made me cry. :)

Don't you think it odd that Simon just happened to make him sing a different song?

This kid is not raw talent (unlike Susan) - he has been in musicals (played young Michael Jackson) etc.

Shaheen has attended the Mark Jermin Stage School in Swansea since he was five. He goes to stage school on Saturdays and attends a normal comprehensive the rest of the week.

He has played a young Michael Jackson in stage musical Thriller Live, performing in Wales, Germany, Holland and Ireland on tour.

He has played a boy with incurable hiccups on Casualty.

And appeared as the child of a crazed gun-wielding dad on Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood.

Shaheen was due to star in a Walkers crisp advert with Gary Lineker - until it was scrapped at the last minute. He was seven at the time, and got through an audition to be in the advert which was never broadcast.

He appears in new BBC kids' show Grandpa In My Pocket.

So hardly a pure find like some of the others on the show - seems fixed to me.

Oh wow Claire - see, to me, that's rigged. He shouldn't even BE there. I agree though, I thought it incredibly odd that he just happened to have a back up song. We all know how much Simon loves to cut people slack, right?

Shaheen is very talented but still I believe Susan will go further. As for her raw talent, she did put out a cd several years ago but I believe the funds were put together by her church or some friends. RAW talent . . . Paul Potts!!!! From car phone salesman to the winner in the 1st year amazing. And if any of you know him you saw the judges react the same way to him as they did Susan. They looked at him and assumed he would suck--GOTCHYA! My dream would be for Susan and Paul to sing something together!!!!

However, giving credit where it's due--Shaheen is very talented. Our own Adam on AI has a theatre background much like this young boy.

She sang one song (Cry me a River) on a charity CD (only 1000 made) funded by the local council to celebrate the Millennium - that's very different from singing in a musical, appearing on TV, and touring parts of Europe to sing. ;)

Btw Paul Potts was not as "raw" as people were led to believe either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Potts
For the Bath Opera of Bath, Somerset, an amateur company, he performed leading roles on four occasions, after beginning in 1999 in the minor roles of The Prince of Persia and the Herald in Puccini's Turandot: Don Basilio in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro in 2000; Don Carlos in Verdi's Don Carlos in 2001; Don Ottavio in Mozart's Don Giovanni in 2003; and Radames in Verdi's Aida in 2003.[8][9][4] He also performed the role of the Chevalier des Grieux in Puccini's Manon Lescaut for the Southgate Opera Company in London, an amateur company, in May 2003. Additionally, he sang with a small ensemble from the Royal Philharmonic in front of an audience of 15,000 and toured northern Italy as a soloist as part of his music classes there.[8]

Exactly!!

BTW don't get me wrong - I love the fact that BGT gives the "underdog" the chance to have a full and professional career - I just wish it was not rigged or the backgrounds brushed over - in this world of media hype it gets a little tedious.
That's part of the reason I hope Susan Boyle wins - like Paul Potts, she is the "unattractive, socially dysfunctional and awkward" person with the most beautiful voice that reduces people to tears with it's purity - now THAT'S a star!
