I live in an apartment bldg. I have approval for all my pets too. :D

Paul thinks I am over reacting, but I have had it!

We share a long hallway with 1 neighbor, as no one rents the other 2 units across the hall. well the wacko that lives there is obsessed and thinks bugs are all over :impatient:

I NEVER see bugs until he sprays, so they must be in HIS apartment. Well, he has sprayed the whole hallway on his side and it makes me ill. It smells bad, and I don't know what is in it. What is worse is he did the steps this time too!!!

Does the smell penetrate into your apartment where it can affect your animals?

I would think there would be some sort of boundary as to how far he can spray the chemicals. Maybe ask your landlord?

I can smell it before I get to the door, and he has it all over the steps too, so then I am tracking it in the apartment, and the smell gives me a migrain :(

I am more concerned with bringing it in on my shoes, if I dont watch where I step. I would also think this is a fire hazard as I am sure it isnt non flammable.

Oh ick! I hate the smell of bug sprays. Definitely take your shoes off...you don't want to track that into the house. Maybe you should stuff a towel at the bottom of the front door to keep the fumes from coming in?

This would drive me CRAZY. I hope he stops the spraying soon. If there are bugs in his apartment, spraying could make the bugs leave and go to the other apartments. Maybe he's just not very clean... I've had neighbors that had bugs because of their own mess and the bugs would always scatter and come find us.

(I HATE BUGS SO VERY MUCH!!!)

Yea the only time I see them is WHEN he does something like this. I can stuff a towell there, but the door is so drafty I dont think it would do much. I al thinking I will go wash the steps anyway, just because he should not be spraying anything on a step! It can create a slick surface.

If i were you, I'd talk to the landlord about it. You don't want whatever he is spraying to make you or your pets sick. You can at least ask to make sure he is using something that is pet safe.

That guy needs to bomb HIS apartment...........not the shared hallway, that is the responsibility of the landlord. So if he did spray it is not even with his legal limits.

I would definitely say something, stressing more about your own personal health as well as the health of your pets.

I would also do the towel thing and get some of those renuzit gelled air freshners. I use the blue one, think it is called super odor killer. at least put it by the door.

I'd skip the air fresheners. They'll just add more chemicals to the air.
Instead, get a HEPA filter to suck the nasties out of the air.

yeah................an air purifier is a really good idea.
but i meant to put the air freshner outside the door.........in the hallway.

Well, I called the landlord today and left a message for him. I stressed that the dude had sprayed the steps and they are slick and posing a slip and fall waiting to happen (hoping he will think of a lawsuit being filed and act faster)

I also told him it is making it hard for me to breathe and stinking up my apartment and if the neighbor has bugs, he needs to address that IN the apartment not out....

So here is hoping he will call the goofball and make him clean it, If I have to clean it, I will take the supplies and time out of the rent money. I wont be using my personal things to clean that crap, otherwise I am just bringing all the chemicals in here when I am done.

An air freshener may not work. Like Tara I react to those type of products too. I can cover up the odor, but the chemical irritant is still in the air and still makes me sick.

I think you took the right step by contacting the land lord. Ensure you stress that these things really make you sick. If it is making it so that you cannot be in your apartment, tell them that. I really hope this situation gets better for you. Let us know if the landlord does anything... this is one of those things that makes apartment living so difficult.

Well, it seems most of it was cleaned up last night.......... I heard someone throwing a tantrum with something out in the hallway, and this morning it was no longer along my wall etc.... I still smell it in the hallway, but if I see it there this weekend, I will take pics and clean the crap up myself, and post the pics and the reciept for cleaning products with my rent:thumbsup:

So for now I can be happy for a small victory.
