I just got my little Bella on Jan. 2, and she was born on Oct. 17, so she's only about 4 months old right now. The first week we were all adjusting to each other, but after that we fell into a nice routine. For the next 3 weeks she was doing a great job about pottying in her pan and she's been a real sweety. Well about a week ago we started letting her run around the whole room instead of just her little playpen and she seems to really like it. I also had to switch her pine shavings brand that's in her litter pan because I ran out of the old stuff. I don't much care for the new stuff but pine shavings are hard to find where I live and anyway I've never heard of chins being picky about that so I didn't worry too much. The thing is, for the last week she's been really ornery and I can't tell if it's due to one of these changes and she's just adjusting or if she's just going through a phase right now. She's stopped using her litter pan and just goes all over the cage (which wouldn't be a problem but its a little smelly and I live in rental property), and she's been pulling up one edge of her fleece lining I think just to annoy me. She doesn't pull it up very much, just a little at the edge, and when I go to fix it she tries to get out and when I don't let her out she sometimes bites me. She doesn't bite hard enough to break the skin, but harder than her usual nibbles. I ended up safety pinning it to her cage last night so we could avoid the whole mess and hopefully get her to stop doing it. I really try to keep to her usual routine because I know how sensitive they can be. Maybe once or twice a week I have to let her out later than usual because of school projects getting in the way, but we've been doing pretty good. So is this just a phase that will pass or did I do something to upset her?

I quickly learned they will redecorate their cage the way THEY want it, not the way we want it.
I use a litter pan of aspen, and Annabelle uses it probably 85-90% of the time. I still find a few spots on the fleece when we change it out.
If you've only had your chin a short time, I'd think she was still in the adjustment phase. Hopefully someone else can weigh in as well.
