I got my 9-week old chin Mazuri feed and hay that's a mix of timothy & alfalfa (specifically for weaning animals).

I know it's usually OK to feed alfalfa hay if you're feeding timothy pellets, but not sure which Mazuri is.

Do you think the timothy/alfalfa hay mix is OK/good while he's young?

Mazuri is Alfalfa based. I would just give small amounts of the hay for a while, until he gets used to it. Keep in mind he's 9 weeks old, so probably isn't used to huge amounts of hay anyway. Too much alfalfa might cause loose poos.

Gotchya, thanks! So his diet should be primarily pellets for a couple of weeks?

It's okay for him to have hay, but if he's not used to alfalfa hay on top of an alfalfa pellet, I would just start him off with a little bit at a time.
