I have some cement statues and was wondering if my Chin chews on them if it is okay for him to do so. These are not painted, its just plain old cement. I dont care about the damage done to them, i thought it might be fun for him to climb on them and chew on them. And it might keep him from chewing on my walls and furniture. :1liberty:

I'm not sure if the contents are safe, but I would be worried about them falling over and hurting him. I had a new, full 6 pound can of country gravy in their cage and had to take it out because they could scoot it and move it. And I'm not talking about rolling it, they are crazy strong. Try standing in front of the cage and having a chin grab your hand/finger and push you backwards, lol

HMMM

The contents of the cement is what i was wondering about. The risk of it falling on mt baby is 0%. The statue is so heavy it takes two people to move it and its not over 3 feet tall. ;)

Cement is a powder, concrete is hard.

If you're thinking about them to just have something to play on, it would probably be okay, but if they start really gnawing on it I would take it away. Some concrete can have various materials in it to make it stronger and chemicals that make it set better, etc. I'm sure a couple test bites won't hurt, but if they're actively going to town on it, I'd remove it. I'd actually guess they would not actually chew on it that much, it's much harder than say pumice.
