Pffft, bring them in and let them see them. I wouldn't be passing the chins around to all and sundry at first, but there's no reason they can't come and see them and visit with them.
Kids tend to clutch and grasp at little critters, so extra careful with explaining that they can easily break their ribs. If they are little kids, I would not advise letting them hold them, but would have them sit on the couch and put the chin on their laps instead. I would also advise putting some kind of a lock on the cage so they can't open it unless you are there to supervise. I can't remember if it was on here or CnQ but someone let their little ones handle the chins all the time, and they felt it was okay to get them out when no one was looking, and they literally squeezed the chin to death. I can't imagine a more horrible way to die.
I would also explain to them that "this" is what the chins get to eat. You don't feed them fritos or raisins or candy. It can hurt them very badly. Again, there was a tragic story attached to that as well.
I know you said it's been 10 years since you have had chins, and maybe you didn't have kids back then, so I'm just pointing out a few of the things that people don't often think of when it comes to having chins with small kids.
