Hello I'm new here and I have a question about my new pet chinchilla, pickles who is three months old. He seems fine on his own but I think he would do better with another male chinchilla and I have a big enough cage to accommodate this.

Should I introduce another baby chin or is it ok to move in an adult since there seem to be a lot available at rescue homes and it would be nice to adopt. If I did want to move in an adult chin should I wait until he is full grown or would it be better to do it now?

Thanks,
Patty

You can try either an adult or a younger chin, it will depend on the personality of the chin's involved. There's never a guarantee, either with a younger or older chin, that they will get along. It's a chance you take and you should always be prepared by having a second cage at all times.

I think it would be great if you can adopt a rescue and give them a new home. If you take your time and introduce them slowly, you might be able to get them together.
