I am wondering how often it works out introducing 2 bonded males to a single male? If I decide to get the 6 year old dark ebony male, I would like to eventually introduce him to my 3 year old males. I know what to do, but what are the chances of them all getting along in the end? I know there is a chance it wont work out, and I am prepared for that. Im just wondering if it works out more often then not.

Thanks

In my experience it usually does not work out well. Introducing a new chin to an already bonded pair can upset the hierarchy and cause the already bonded pair to fight, causing you have to have 3 seperate chins and 3 different cages instead of a trio.

It can be done, but everytime I have tried it, that is what happened.

In the one case I did it, it worked. However, the two bonded boys were very young at the time.. about 2 1/2 months old. This could have had an affect on it. I bonded my 1 year old with them and they are still all bonded today. However, i'm not going to bet that it will last forever because it often doesn't. (knock on wood)

I wish I had read this post few years back! We too ended up having to separate our two bonded males, because of the infighting that ensued after the third male was introduced in the room- we never even got a chance to introduce them into the same cage.
