Is the treatment for impaction similar to that of gas/bloat? Jo got ahold of some plastic and he took a big chunk off of it. :impatient: (Plastic bucket got bumped next to his cage) I hope it doesn't happen but if it does then I want to be prepared. What would be the treatment? What medicine would most likely be prescribed for it (if any?) Thank you!

sometimes if the blockage is small motility drugs can help it pass.. More often then not a blockage requires surgery..it is impacted in the intestines and they cannot move it through because it is too big and undigestable. It is very often a death sentence

With Smudge I noticed the signs of pain/impaction within 24 hours of him chewing on the plastic. I don't know the exact time frame of when he chewed it. He had chewed sometime on Friday and I noticed him acting very off Saturday evening/night, which is also when I discovered the chewed plastic.
I would just keep an eye on his general activity level, appetite, and poops. Many times chins just shred the plastic and don't actually ingest it, but it can happen.
