As far as I remember Micheals' wood products don't tell you what type of wood it is. You need to make sure whatever wood you use is chin safe, and untreated. Some woods have tannins or other things that are toxic to chins. Plus if they're been treated with chemicals those may effect your chin too. There are plenty of threads about safe woods on the forum. I would guess you'd be better off getting chin safe boards of whatever wood from hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowe's, Menards, etc. Also, I know Menards has some untreated poplar and a couple others meant for carving that could be chin safe. (I've been looking into doing more stuff with that myself) Look at the lists of safe wood on here (maybe even print it or copy it down) than take that to the store and make sure the wood is one of those and hasn't been treated in any way.
