I was hoping this wouldn't happen.

Hayley is pregnant and has gained just under 70.grams. This is her first litter. I am now feeling nipples. I am really hoping that even though she has nipples that babies are still several weeks away. Please tell me this is possible!!!!!
Thing is that my dad died day before yesterday. He lived in NYC and I am in Seattle. I need to fly there on Saturday for the funeral etc.

Chances are it will be fine. Most chinchilla deliveries and everything goes fine. We can't always be there and nipples don't mean babies tomorrow. Do what you need to do for your family. Control what you can and don't worry about things out of your contril

They will come when they come. Whether you are at your dad's funeral or not, if she is going to deliver she is going to deliver. I don't judge when a chin is going to deliver by their nipples. I judge it by when I see the kits.

Chins have been having babies for a looooong time without our help. Have someone check on her every day and that's about all you can do.

I'm very sorry to hear about your dad.

Is this her first litter?

I've had females nipples elongate weeks before birthing, especially if they're not first timers.

Thing is that I have read about so many horror stories and the importance of being vigilant and responsible while breeding chins and I want to do the right thing.

You ARE doing the best you can do given your situation. The right thing would be to focus on your family right now. She should be ok. I am so sorry about your father. You have my condolences.
